"People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that's what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that's holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life... they tear down your walls...But to live with a soul mate forever? Nah..."
-Eat, Pray, Love
There is more to this quote, but I will add it in later. To a certain extent, I agree with what it says.
Some people collect stamps, coins, or comic books. I collect words. I carry them along on my journey, considering their meanings and letting them shape my days.
A blog about words, meaning-making, and impact.
Tragedy is Poetic
"But an element of tragedy always makes for good poetry."
-Mary Doria Russell, Children of God
I think of all the great movies and poems and literature, and the sorrow and tradegy which helps make them "great." Death. Loss. Lossed love. That's how life goes, right? I think of Romeo and Juliet. Would it have been the same if they lived? An element of tragedy adds complexity. I equate poetry with beauty. And tragedy can be beautiful.
